À propos

The Nkafu Policy Institute is an independent, non-partisan, pan-African think tank established in 2012 to catalyze Africa's economic transformation. Headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and hosted by the Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation, the institute operates under a firm belief in the power of free enterprise, democratic governance, and sustainable development. Rather than relying on external prescriptions, Nkafu brings together a diverse network of regional and global analysts to deliver rigorous, home-grown policy research. Its overarching mission is to advance innovative public policy frameworks that enable all Africans to prosper in free, fair, and democratic economies.

The institute directs its programs across five core thematic areas: economic affairs, governance and democracy, health and education, peace and security, and science and technology. Nkafu bridges the gap between research and practice by translating data into highly accessible publications, including its signature Cameroon Startup Ecosystem reports and Budget Research Findings. In May 2026, the institute significantly expanded its regional influence by securing a major $10 million African Union and World Bank grant to lead the BRIDGE-Africa consortium, a collaborative network aimed at driving cross-border policy solutions across sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, through its structured internship curricula and annual Emerging Leaders Program, Nkafu heavily emphasizes local capacity building to prepare the next generation of African researchers and policymakers.
