The Resource and Environmental Policy Research Centre (REPRC) is an academic research and policy advocacy center established at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Formally launched into full operation in 2019, REPRC serves as the official Nigeria center for the global Environment for Development (EfD) initiative. Headquartered within the university's campus in Enugu State, Nigeria, the center focuses on advancing interdisciplinary research, building local institutional capacity, and shaping environmental policy. Its core objective is to provide evidence-based economic counsel to policymakers on highly critical sustainability matters, including food security, green growth, clean energy, and natural resource management.
The center plays a major role in West African environmental governance by linking its cutting-edge academic studies with direct government ministries. REPRC has been instrumental in spearheading key regional projects, including collaborating with the Nigerian Ministry of Environment on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) and directing the IDRC-funded INCLUDE-Africa project, which scales up inclusive climate finance systems for small businesses, women, and youth across West Africa. Through high-level workshops, rigorous peer-reviewed publications, and specialized training programs in natural resource economics, REPRC continually builds the technical expertise needed to guide sub-Saharan African nations toward sustainable, climate-resilient economic development.
