The Pan-African Institute of Research and Innovation (PIRI) is an educational non-profit organization established in January 2021 by founder Simson Mwale to drive international research collaboration and academic capacity building. Headquartered in Kalulushi, Zambia, the institute functions as a strategic hub for liaison, consulting, and training, with active plans to expand its footprint through regional offices in Ghana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. By partnering with global networks like Europe's Network for Education and Research Quality (NERQ) and the Bavaria Research Alliance, PIRI connects African researchers with international ecosystems to address pressing socio-economic challenges. The institute carries out its mandate primarily through its Research Training and Innovation Hub, which equips postgraduate students, early-career scholars, and faculty members with advanced academic skills. Its specialized training programs focus on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence deployment, data analysis, research ethics, and the commercialization of academic research through intellectual property and patenting. Through these initiatives, PIRI aims to foster a generation of highly skilled African innovators capable of conducting ethical, high-impact research on a global stage.
