À propos

The Alliance Congolaise pour le Contrôle de Tabac (ACCT) (Congolese Alliance for Tobacco Control) is a leading network of civil society organizations, academic institutions, and public health advocates dedicated to combating tobacco use and addiction in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Established in 2013 and headquartered in Kinshasa, the non-governmental organization acts as a crucial interface between the DRC government and international technical or financial partners. ACCT focuses heavily on strengthening national public health policies, raising community awareness, and advocating for regulatory frameworks that align with the World Health Organization's (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC).The organization has achieved significant recognition for its operational impact, notably winning the prestigious WHO World No Tobacco Day Award. ACCT regularly collaborates with the DRC Ministry of Health and international entities like the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) to enhance the country’s tobacco control measures. Through joint initiatives, such as the co-development of the Tobacco Control Data Initiative (TCDI) Platform, ACCT works to centralize data regarding tobacco prevalence, illicit trade, and taxation. This data provides local lawmakers with the evidence needed to implement comprehensive smoke-free protections across the nation.
