Abstract

Africa produces knowledge, but that knowledge frequently fails to circulate, inform decision-making, or accumulate across institutional generations. This article argues that the continent's knowledge crisis is not one of production but of architecture. African knowledge hubs are typically designed to receive rather than connect, to store rather than activate, and to display rather than embed. Drawing on institutional theory, knowledge management literature, and African platform experience, the article proposes a framework for rethinking knowledge hubs as dynamic systems grounded in interoperability, contextual legitimacy, and demand-side orientation. The ACBF African Knowledge Hub redesign is examined as a case study in applying these principles operationally.
