About
The Africa Governance Centre (AGC) is a prominent, independent policy, advocacy, and research think tank based in Accra, Ghana. Founded in 2022 and currently led by its Chair, Benedicta Lasi Esq., the non-profit organization is dedicated to advancing democratic governance, institutional integrity, and socioeconomic progress across the African continent. Collaborating extensively with bodies like the African Union, ECOWAS, and the UNDP, the center operates via a multi-pillar strategy that bridges the gap between high-level macro-policy design and practical, ground-level execution in line with the AU's Agenda 2063 frameworks.A major driver of the center's portfolio is the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), a flagship program that establishes a neutral, cross-border platform to build institutional capacity and combat democratic backsliding. Through continental events like the African Political Parties Summit, the Africa Women Political Leadership Summit, and the African Youth in Politics Forum, AGC works directly to integrate women and youth into active national policy planning. Additionally, the think tank conducts cutting-edge economic and political analyses, deploying election observation missions and publishing foundational research on structural governance and economic transformation in Africa.
